This interactive and informative class will be taking an in depth look at current adolescent health issues. This course serves as the ultimate guide to help students navigate the challenges and changes of their adolescent years. All students can benefit greatly from the content of this course. Some topics covered include:
Critical thinking skills and core concepts related to drug and alcohol use, along with strategies to resist negative peer pressure and the importance of good decision-making.
Focus on the importance of a positive self-image and self-confidence.
In depth look at the obesity epidemic, including the causes and consequences of obesity.
Exploring the importance of nutrition, physical activity and the benefits to a student's overall health and wellbeing.
Examining the unique characteristics of adolescent development (physical, social, emotional, and intellectual.)
Improving student's capacity to establish and maintain healthy relationships through Social-emotional learning (SEL). Teaching students essential life skills that help them develop into successful individuals
Understanding mental health challenges/illnesses whichbenefits students by knowing common challenges and conditions, learning coping strategies, identifying mental disorders, cultivating awareness and empathy, and getting the words to use and advise on how to help.
Abstinence and the importance of self-respect in relationships.
Human Growth and Development lessons
