In 1915 the Turkish government began arresting Armenians who were teachers, politicians, doctors, and many educated people, and not long after, on April 24th, 1915, the Armenian Genocide began.

Makrouhie Guzelian was just 10 years old when the genocide began, she witnessed her father get arrested and her people be murdered by the Turkish government.

Makrouhie was lucky in the end, and her story could have been very different.
