My mother, Anna Yu

Introduction

My mother, Anna Yu, was born January 4, 1967 in Hong Kong. Her and her large family soon thereafter immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts. They sought the opportunity the United States had to offer, and a few decades later, my mother had achieved the American Dream.

Although she was faced with mounds of obstacles from trying to help support her family, to having to learn a new language, to pursuing an education, she never met a barrier she was not able to overcome, and ended up thriving in a country previously foreign to her.

Her story of immigration is one of inspiring open mindness, solemn hardship, and commendable bravery.
