In New York City, Anne and Cornelius faced new challenges. They had little money and no family to help them, but they worked hard and made a home for themselves. It wasn’t easy, but they were determined to succeed. Before long, they had a son, John Patrick O’Reilly, and their family began to grow.

Things didn't get easier right away when they arrived in New York City. “Imagine landing in a completely new place with no money, no family, and barely knowing anyone,” Anne's great-granddaugter said. “They worked whatever jobs they could find just to keep going.” 

John Patrick was raised in the city, where he met Margaret Hathaway. The two married and had four children, one of whom was my grandfather, John Patrick O'Reilly ll.

John Patrick O’Reilly II grew up in New York. After marrying Patricia, they settled in Manhattan, where they started their family. “They loved the city,” Anne's great-granddaughter said. “It was exciting, and it’s where they both grew up, so it felt like home.”

Together, John and Patricia had two kids: Jen, and Meredith. Eventually, they decided to move to Needham, Massachusetts, looking for more space and a quieter life for their growing family. “They wanted a change,” Anne's great-granddaughter explained. “Manhattan was great, but they wanted us to have more room to run around and just be kids.”
