MAKE-UP WORK
Students with excused absences will be given full assistance in making up assignments for credit. However, it is the student's responsibility to request the assignments from the teachers. Instructors will only be required to give assistance for unexcused absences by providing, orally or in writing, the assignments necessary to make up the work missed. Work missed during unexcused absences must be completed to receive credit in a class. Students will have the number of days absent, plus one, to make up their work for an absence. You will lose a letter grade everyday day after the due date (This policy will start after 4 weeks of the start of the semester).
Absences - Tardies
Students are expected to have their parents telephone the school, verifying that they are aware of their child's absence. Parents are asked to call from 7:30 to 8:15 AM, 838-5550. Call a day or more in advance if the absence is anticipated. Illness, medical appointments, or family trauma are appropriate reasons to miss school. Educational trips with parents or guardians are also appropriate, but the school should be notified at least one week in advance.
ABSENCE WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PARENTS IS CALLED "TRUANCY”
Truancy is a serious offense and will result in detention and/or suspension from school and referral to a court authority.
TARDINESS
Students are not to enter a classroom late for any reason without a pass, an escort from a school official or a call to the classroom. Students who are late must report to the office and secure a pass.
The third tardy in a semester will result in 30 minutes of detention. The fourth tardy and all subsequent tardies in a semester will result in1 hour of detention.
The only excused tardy allowed will be for a medical/dental appointment with written verification at the time of the tardy.
Communication Devices
Cell phones and other electronic devices are not to be used in the classroom. If electronic devices are used during class time, the following guidelines will be used. The first time it is confiscated, it will be retained by the school until the end of the school day. The second time or anytime after the first time, it will be retained by the school for one school day and it will be returned to the parent/guardian ONLY. Parents/guardians will have to pick up phone at the school from Mrs. Raymond.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
Classroom and School Discipline Rules
• Respect for yourself and others are required in Nedrose Public School.
• Address teachers in a professional manner by using Mr., Mrs, Ms. along with their last name.
• No profanity is allowed in the classroom or anywhere on school property.
• Cell phones are not allowed to be out during school.
• Water will be allowed to be consumed in classrooms during the school day in clear bottles.
• Food is not allowed in classrooms during the school day unless allowed by teacher.
• No hats may be worn in school from 8:00 AM until 3:30 PM on school days.
• No audio devices are allowed in school from 8:00 AM until 3:30 PM on school days.
• Discipline will be used from the student handbook if situations continue.
