*WHAT WE ARE LEARNING THIS WEEK

We will be learning about TYPES OF ENERGY AND SOUND ENERGY.  

  • MONDAY: CK 12 1.2 Characteristics of Sound: Read, Discuss and Take Notes; Potential and Kinetic Energy Sort 

  • TUESDAY: Cont. CK 12 1.1 Characteristics of Sound: Read, Discuss and Take Notes

  • WEDNESDAY: CK12 1.2 Characteristics of Sound: Read, Discuss and Take Notes

  • THURSDAY: Cont. CK12 1.2 Characteristics of Sound: Read, Discuss and Take Notes; begin Sound Energy Scavenger Hunt

  • FRIDAY: Cont. Sound Energy Scavenger Hunt; *Quiz on Types of Energy*

*IXL - SCIENCE:  Various modules related to Energy; Click on Learning, Recommendations, then Recommendations Wall, then the Gold Star *See Suggestions from you teacher

*All students have a username and password and are encouraged to work on IXL at home

*GOOGLE CLASSROOM:  SCIENCE-ENERGY Unit (CK12)

*KEYS TO SUCCESS

  • Make sure your child practices IXL Science every day.  

   *This will help with the 5th Grade Science End of Grade Assessment (EOG).

  • Check Google Classroom for Topics we are learning each week.  

        *There you will find great reading material for quiz and test review and if your child doesn't have books to read.

  • Make sure your child is reading a book of interest for at least 20 minutes every day. This will help your child with many reading skills and enjoy reading about science topics.

*Students are allowed to go to the school library during Science class to check out books of their choice.

  • Use Powerschool to check in on your child’s grades weekly.  

   *Quizzes are given on the topics weekly and tested the following week. *Schoolnet Tests are given on Tuesdays (Schoolnet tests are cummulative and resemble the Science EOG for grades 5 and 8).
