Peer Support Groups for Grieving Students

Caring Place staff members, and your child’s school counselor, are available to facilitate a peer support group within our school for students who have had someone close to them die.

Peer Support Groups for Grieving Students

What is the program designed to address?

The program is designed to systematically address non-complicated grief of children and teens in elementary, middle and high school within the school setting.

What is the goal of the program?

The program works to provide a safe environment for participants to connect with peers who are also grieving, and to be able to express their feelings related to the death and to share memories of the person who died.

Through this process the children have the opportunity to learn that they are not alone; to become familiar with peers who understand what they are going through so they can go to them for support if needed; and to learn healthy coping mechanisms.

Who is the program designed to serve?

The program is designed to serve children and teens:

• who have had a family member or friend die at any point of time in their lives

• who have been identified by a designated staff person at their school as appropriate for a school-based group

• who are not suffering from untreated symptoms of trauma related to the death

• who can function appropriately in a peer support group

• who have been given permission by their parent/guardian to participate in the group

FIREWORKS Friday at Mt. Wolf Elementary

Please encourage your child to share with adults at school any exciting achievements that may occur for him/her outside of school. We are looking to spotlight these students on Friday Morning Announcements. It may be a student sharing that he became a BIG brother OR she scored her first goal in a soccer game OR (s)he went on a fishing trip and caught a big bass! We want to encourage open communication between our students and staff and recognize positives being seen in our school, at home and in the community.

The Mt. Wolf PTO spirit sale begins 09/13/2021-09/24/2021. All order can be placed on the website. For shipping you can choose to have it shipped to your home or brought home with your student! Every year the PTO puts together a student directory to share with our families. This is a great tool to invite friends to birthday parties, or play dates. This is all voluntary information and will only be shared with Mt Wolf Families. Feel free to add as little or as much information as you see fit. Basketball Skill Builder Clinic at Mt. Wolf Elementary School

K-2 Skill Builder Clinic - Registration for skill development for younger players interested in trying out basketball or building on skills they have already learned. The program will be hosted and run by the Northeastern High School Girls Basketball Coaches and players.
