The intern year counts as the first year in the mentor program, if a teacher interns with Nebo.
If a teacher interns in another district and then comes to us, the intern year does not count as a year of mentoring.

The Nebo Provisional Requirements are the criteria that, once complete, enable a new educator to continue as a career educator in Nebo. The requirements are not tied to licensure. The deadline for completion of these requirements is April 30 of the educator's third year of employment.
All new educators should write ONE Professional Growth Plan (PGP) for each year they are at provisional status (typically 3 years). The UETS Standards that new educators should choose from to write PGPs are:
Standard 1: Learners and Learning
Standard 2: Instructional Design Clarity
Standard 3: Instructional Practice
Standard 4: Classroom Climate
Standard 5: Professional Responsibility
Hold a minimum of seven meetings throughout the school year.
Mentees are required to attend a minimum of five meetings. All teachers in their first three years, any new to Nebo teachers and all first year Resource/Severe-ACC/ISC/EEC teachers should be invited. You may also choose to invite any transfer teachers, fourth-year interns or anyone else in the school whom you feel would benefit.
If educators would like to make up mentor meetings, you may choose to offer that option in extreme circumstances. The expectation is that they will make this a priority in their schedule.
Here is a brief tutorial that shows how to make a copy of any of our presentations so that you can edit and adapt them to meet the needs of the educators you support.
