When opening the PDF Connector, select the PDF document you want to connect.
Specify the status of the PDF file (new / revision / existing).
Note: This message only pops up in case the connector recognized the pdf document as a new file.
The image below represents how the UI of the iBIM PDF Connector looks like. In green the left- and right side of the iBIM PDF Connector - and the way the data transfers - is shown.
On the left side, the PDF document is shown with all the markup functionalities.
The blue colored ribbon #1 is the main ribbon to use within the iBIM PDF Connector. With this ribbon the user can:
"Open..." or "Reload" the PDF document with the corresponding buttons;
Switch to "Highlight- or No Highlight mode" with the H-button;
Create an "iPost" or "Document iPost" with the correpsonding buttons;
Use "Copy to name" or "Copy tot Text" with the corresponding buttons;
Switch between "Connector modes" with the corresponding button.
The blue coloured ribbon #2 is an additional ribbon to use within the iBIM PDF Connector. With this ribbon the user can:
Switch to "Pan-mode" by clicking the Hand-button;
Take a "Screenshot" to send to Relatics with the Camera-button;
Switch to "Select text-mode" by clicking the T-button;
Switch to different "Zoomed views" by clicking the Document- and Percentage-buttons
"Lookup" by clicking the Binoculars-, Search field-, and Filter-buttons;
On the right side, the Relatics part is shown.
The blue colored ribbon #3 is the main ribbon to use within the iBIM PDF Connector. With this ribbon the user can:
Choose between "New / Edit", "Existing" and "iPosts" to switch between data types and modify the Relatics database.
The blue coloured ribbon #4 is an additional ribbon to use within the iBIM PDF Connector. With this ribbon the user can:
Select the data to "Send to Relatics".
Select the option you want to use within the iBIM PDF Connector:
Option 1: Click "Copy to Name" or "Copy to Text" for actual titles and text you want to transfer to in Relatics.
Option 2: Click "iPost" for comments about specific text in the document or "Document iPost" for general comments about the whole document.
To transfer the text from the PDF to Relatics, simply mark the text directly in the PDF file, click on "Copy to Name" and "Copy to Text" and press "Send to Relatics". Live collaboration is possible; just open the same PDF in the iBIM PDF Connector on multiple devices with multiple users and see what happens.
Now the data will appear in Relatics as unique elements and the text sent to Relatics shall stay marked in the PDF document when opening the iBIM PDF Connector.
Note1: Different mark-ups can be used for different Relatics element types. Please see the image later on this page.
Note2: The marking is only visible in the iBIM PDF Connector and not in the locally saved PDF file.
To switch between different Relatics element types, click on "Connector mode" and switch between predifined Relatics elements such as "Risk" and "Specification" (Eis).
Note: Predefining of the Relatics elements shall be done by neanex consultants.
To create an iPost simply click the "iPost" button and submit the iPost to Relatics.
To respond to somebody else's iPost simply click on the existing iPost in the PDF connector and choose "Answer" or create an answer directly in Relatics.
It is fully customisable where to put the iPosts and PDF texts in Relatics and how the information will be shown in the tables.
Note: In case an existing Relatics workspace is available, it is possible to integrate the connector inside the existing workspace. Please contact a neanex consultant if this is the case.
