Postdoctoral Research Positions
Several postdoctoral positions are available in the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at North Dakota State University in several projects in the area of preparation and characterization of polymeric materials and coatings. Duties will include synthesis of polymers with reactive functional groups, preparation of materials, characterization of materials to understand their structure-property relationships, preparation of reports and manuscripts for publication, and presentation of research at national and international meetings. A PhD. In Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Coatings and Polymeric Materials, Polymer Science or closely related field is required. Also required are good communication skills as demonstrated by record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences. Preferred qualifications include: experience in preparation and characterization of organic and/or polymeric coatings; synthesis of polymers, block copolymers, polyurethanes, siloxanes, amphiphilic polymers; preparation and characterization of thermoset polymers and/or foams; characterization of polymer compositions using FTIR, NMR, GPC, etc.; characterization of polymer materials using DSC, TGA, DMA, tensile methods, etc. Also preferred are one or more years of relevant postdoctoral experience and ability to start work within 60 days of accepting offer.
Positions will be initially for one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
