Applied Differential Equations: Math 480/680

The main course objective is to learn the basics of the qualitative analysis of ordinary differential equations (ODE) and see how they can be used to model real world systems. Most ODE cannot be solved analytically. In this course the students will see how one can understand the behavior of solutions to ODE without actually being able to solve it. The mathematical theory will be illustrated by examples from natural science (biology, ecology, mechanics, physics, chemistry, etc.).Â
