8th Grade ELA / Social Studies
This will be my 2nd year teaching 8th grade at NDS and I can't wait for another great year. I have lived in Morganton for most of my life and my children have been students at NDS since Kindergarten. I have worked in all kinds of fields, including tourism, communications, preschool, and more. I worked on the first Hunger Games film as an intern in the camera department, and my first degree is in Mass Communications with a concentration in film and visual media. I hold a residency teaching license and I am finishing up my graduate certificate in Middle Grades Education. I enjoy reading, musical theatre, movies, and spending time with my husband and 3 kids. We also have 4 dogs, 3 cats, and a horse. Some of my favorite books include The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, The House in the Cerulean Sea, and anything by Riley Sager.

I am so happy to be here at New Dimensions. I have 3 kids and one beautiful granddaughter. They all live in Mitchell County. I just moved to Morganton and love it here. I have lived in Burke County before and even taught here for a few years so I know the area pretty well. I recently retired from public school teaching. I have been to several schools and systems and have coached many sports. I recently was the head Baseball coach at Avery High School. I am looking forward to hopefully starting a baseball team here at New Dimensions.
