Previous CAS experiences

Students at NDIHS are encouraged to get involved to help develop their interests outside of the classroom. These are a few of the activities our students organized or participated in. Look at this page to help you come up with some new CAS experiences you are interested in.

NDIHS MUN Club

Mun is a student lead club where students organize debates on current events each week to practice for and attend conferences both locally and internationally. This club consists of both NDIHS students and French students from NDLO.

Impact Summit in Prague

Volunteering at Nouvel Espoir in Les Mureaux

NDIHS students signed up throughout the year to help distribute food at Nouvel Espoir. They also helped with family intake and observed the interview process for new families. Students helped with organizing the shelves after doing a food collect at local grocery stores.

Serve the City Paris

Students met a refugee in Paris and listened to his story. They then made sandwiches and wrote letters to people to put in the bagged lunches and we walked around and handed the lunches to the homeless. We also visited a péniche on the seine that houses homeless men to help them get back on their feet.

Volunteering at Le p'tit Episol

A sustainable garden is being created by the local secour catholique to help grow fresh food for families in need. Students also participate in local food collects to help fill the shelves in food pantry run by the secour catholique. NDIHS is establishing a connection so students can help with gardening and food collect. Students will learn how to garden sustainably with the goal of having the school grow the seedlings for the garden and then helping plant them in the garden. This is a new opportunity for students to get involved in at NDIHS.

European Youth Debate

Students have the opportunity to participate in a one day debate with other students from all over France. The top three debaters win an all paid trip to the European national debate, which takes place in other parts of Europe each year.

Activities organized by students

Paris Maker Faire

Students prepared for and visited the Maker Faire at the Musée de la Découverte to find ideas for CAS activities and projects.

Valentine's Day cards and serenade

Students organized a one day event to celebrate Valentine's Day. They sold cards with a little chocolate and for an extra small fee you could choose a song and have someone serenaded to in front of the school at lunch time.

International Goûter

Students returned from Christmas break with different foods from their country or baked something typical from their country to share.

Trip to Lyon

Students and faculty traveled to Lyon for three days to visit and learn.

In Lyon, students learned about the silk road in Lyon including how to weave. They also learned how to play boule Lyonaise and toured the old city with a guide learning all about the history of Lyon. We also had a guided tour of the Musée de la Confluence and ate traditional food from the area.

NDO/NDIHS Field day

Students participated in games and activities with French students to help create a connection between the two schools.

Cultural Visits around Paris

Each year students and faculty visit local sites and link it to the courses. Here are a few of the places we visited recently.

Last year our students visited Paris and learned about the history of Notre Dame. They were lucky to visit it before it caught on fire a month later.
