“My first job in this field was when I was 19, back in 1991. I had no experience and was hired on the spot. There were few rules and regulations, and I learned – sometimes the hard way – what not to do. I watched the DD field change before my eyes and was part of that change. I stayed in the field for over 30 years before starting No Day But Today. The people I have worked with have greatly impacted me over the years. I’ve learned a lot about myself, the world, forgiveness, acceptance, and being a better person.” -Carla

"I grew up in this field, surrounded by the people and homes my mom, Carla, dedicated her life to. The individuals she supported were never just part of her job to me... They felt like friends and family. Even with that connection, I never imagined I would follow in her footsteps. I was working as a catering chef, when Carla asked me to join the team. I said yes without knowing it would completely change my path. I quickly fell in love with the work and with advocating for lives built on dignity, independence, and self-direction. The people I’ve worked with have continued to shape who I am, teaching me patience, understanding, and the value of truly person-centered support. I’m committed to continuing to learn, grow, and help others provide meaningful support that empowers people to live full and fulfilling lives." -Rachel
