The University of Notre Dame's Premier Synthetic Biology Student Organization Competing at the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition
Founded in 2003, the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is the largest annual event in synthetic biology. Over the past two decades, it has built a community of more than 50,000 alumni and hosts around 6,000 competitors each year. iGEM is a major driver of innovation in genetic and cellular engineering, contributing to advances in healthcare, biotechnology, and the formation of hundreds of companies and scientific publications.
iGEM@ND is the student-run engineering and research team representing Notre Dame. Our interdisciplinary group aims to design and build novel engineered biological systems using both experimental and computational approaches, while also promoting awareness of synthetic biology.
The season culminates in presenting our work at the iGEM Grand Jamboree in Paris, France.
