Starting a new machining project

In order to best serve your machining needs we ask that you fill out a Work Request Form and send it to our machine shop Manager Terry Jacobsen 574.631.8699. The work request will then be reviewed, a time estimate will be made, and your machining process will be scheduled.

Ways to make this process move forward efficiently

  • Please include the proper FOAPAL number

    • FOAPAL number lookup

    • Our current shop rate for Internal Notre Dame projects is $69 per hour

    • Our Shop rate for External projects is $106 per hour.

  • Please provide an accurate drawing and part model.

    • AutoCad .dwg for 2d drawings

    • IGES Files for 3d models.

    • We can also accept files from Creo and Inventor.

    • We are happy to help with the design.

    • Emailing a PDF of the part with tolerances when submitting the work request form is appreciated.

  • Our shop rate does not include material or special tooling. Please consult with the machine shop supervisor before purchasing materials.

    • We may be able to specify the type of material that best suits your needs.

    • We can order the proper size material to accommodate your project.

    • We can usually find the most economic material with the quickest delivery.
