Wolfgang the Corpse Flower

Wolfgang bloomed on Wednesday June 21 for the first time.

In case you missed the stink, JCRA's sister garden Juniper Level Botanic Garden will present another corpse flower around the first weekend of July.

About Wolfgang

Wolfgang is an Amorphophallus titanum also known as corpse flower and titan arum. The name corpse flower comes from the pungent odor the flower produces to attract pollinators. Wolfgang joined the NC State Conservatory in 2017 and will have its first bloom this June.

Where to Find Wolfgang

Wolfgang will reside at the JC Raulston Arboretum during its bloom time. The Arboretum is located at 4415 Beryl Road Raleigh, NC 27606.

Live Stream

Can't get to the Arboretum? Keep an eye on the corpse flower through the live stream. The live stream will be up and running soon.

Fun Fact

The corpse flower will only bloom for one or two days before collapsing and setting seed for the next generation.

Other Aroids at the Arboretum

The JC Raulston Arboretum is home to many different relatives of the titan arum. Visit the Arboretum to see these species in person.
