We are looking for executive board members for the spring 2025 semester! Applications will close September 23rd!
A proto-version of Ultraviolet began in fall of 2018 as the Lesbian Literature Club. Members of the Lesbian Literature Club met regularly to read sapphic poetry, get to know one another, and complete crossword puzzles related to the routine readings. The club lasted until the end of the spring 2019 semester.
During the fall semester of 2019, the Lovely Legendary Lesbian League (known as LLLL or 4L) had formed! The club's focus was general discussion-based events about the lesbian experience. In 2020, the club was officially recognized by NC State's student involvement and registered as an official club.
Bi/Pan, which is a club dedicated to those identifying as bisexual, pansexual, flexible, multisexual, or otherwise queer, became official in the fall semester of 2020. Their primary focus is educational discussions on queer life with fun group activities mixed in. While not exclusively a sapphic organization, it is important to note that many sapphics identify under the Bi/Pan umbrella. Furthermore, Bi/Pan has been a tremendous help in collaborating with Ultraviolet and The Pride Alliance (formally known as GLBTCA) for large events, such as Second Chance Prom and the Ruby Deluxe Drag Show Fundraiser in 2023. If you are interested in learning more, please see their GetInvolved page here.
In the fall semester of 2021, the Lovely Legendary Lesbian League underwent another change - this time changing its name to Ultraviolet. This name change was intended to be shorter, easier to remember, and more importantly, inclusive of all sapphics, not just those who identify as lesbians. Our largest attendance number as Ultraviolet was around ~60 and we have continued to grow since.
