UHP Spring Break Trip Overview
Why a city (and a city known to be wet and drizzly most of the year, at that)? The NC State Honors Program could have taken students to any beautiful, tropical, secluded destination it wanted for spring break. But we chose Seattle, Washington, USA as our destination because...
By the year 2050, 68% percent of the world’s population is expected to be living in cities/urban areas.
That means we need to do what we can to make sure these areas are planned, constructed, and/or revitalized to be as safe, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive as possible! NC State students need to help Think and Do the extraordinary when it comes to the places humans will live and impact with their activities, now and in the future.
By participating on the Sustainable Cities & Communities spring break trip, NC State University Honors Program students (and invited EcoVillage at NC State guests) will:
Visit a city nationally-recognized for its sustainability initiatives and culture
Name examples of ways that we can make cities and human settlements more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable
Have fun!

About the NC State University Honors Program
The University Honors Program provides a breadth and depth of unique educational experiences that engage academically-motivated students in transformative experiential learning for the duration of their college careers. Our students maintain a GPA of at least 3.25, take twelve (12) hours of advanced Honors coursework, participate in two (2) semesters of Honors Forum (a foundational course that exposes Honors students to controversial issues, cutting-edge technologies, and a range of questions drawn from the arts, the sciences, and politics), complete three high impact experiences, and create and publish a culminating digital portfolio in their senior year.
