Hello! I’m Troy Larsen, a Goodnight Doctoral Fellow and Ph.D. candidate in Applied Mathematics at NC State University. My current research lies in exploring variance/derivative based global sensitivity analysis with Dr. Alen Alexanderian. I am fascinated by the ways in which abstract mathematical structures can reveal deeper insights into applied mathematics and many adjacent fields, and I hope to work at the intersection of mathematics and the life sciences throughout my doctoral career. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics and Classics from Washington and Lee University, where I graduated summa cum laude in 2022. Before beginning graduate school, I spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar in Hungary and earned high honors at Budapest Semesters in Mathematics.
In addition to my research and coursework, I am deeply committed to teaching and academic mentorship. As a teaching assistant at NC State, I have worked with students in all levels of mathematics, with a focus on making complex concepts accessible and engaging. I am also passionate about community-building and have held leadership roles in various capacities throughout my academic journey. Feel free to reach out to me via email at tjlarse2@ncsu.edu for collaboration opportunities, academic inquiries, or just to chat!
