Youth will look at a seed and learn about what it contains. Each student will plant 2 containers with pea seeds that will grow. We will use the pea seeds as part of investigative science experiments throughout the remainder of the program. In this week, youth will learn the following:

Supplies and Supply Source :
Dry lima beans, 3-4 beans/seeds per learner (grocery store, dollar store, hardware store, garden center)
Pea seeds, 3-6 per learner (hardware store, garden center)
Potting soil, about 2 liters per learner (hardware store, garden center)
2 L bottle or 1-gallon plastic jug, 2 per learner (recycled material)
Construction paper, 2-4 sheets per learner
Pea seeds (can be picked from the office seed bank for free)
Scissors*
Tape*
Crayons, Pencils*
Water*
Paper towels
