The Computational Intelligence for Radar (CI4R) Lab, led by Dr. Sevgi Z. Gurbuz at North Carolina State University, focuses on advancing RF-enabled cyber-physical systems through the integration of radar sensing and machine learning. Our research encompasses the development of cognitive radar systems, automatic target recognition, and applications in human activity recognition and health monitoring. By combining physics-based modeling with data-driven approaches, we aim to enhance the robustness and accuracy of radar systems in complex environments.
Our team comprises six current Graduate Students and two Ph.D. graduates, collaborating on projects that bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical applications in radar based defense, healthcare, and smart environments.
The AIM Lab at Port City International University, co-led by Sultanus Salehin and Akib Jayed Islam, focuses on pioneering research at the intersection of antenna design, medical imaging, and artificial intelligence. Our team—comprising 15 talented undergraduate students from EEE and CSE—works on diverse projects including wireless power transfer for medical implants, medical image enhancement using GANs, wearable energy-harvesting devices, and AI-driven health diagnostics.
By merging expertise in RF sensing, signal processing, and deep learning, the AIM Lab is dedicated to creating innovative, practical solutions that address critical challenges in healthcare and smart sensing systems.
