Content Ideas
Film for a few minutes throughout your day and talk about what’s going on with your operation at different times of the cover cropping season
Record a video talking about a piece of equipment or an innovation of your own creation
Show a weed or pest and talk about how you manage it on your farm
Share a time you had to overcome an obstacle on your farm
Show the beauty of your farm- no words necessary: walking through a field of cover crops, a nice sunset over your farm, etc.
Optional Video Ideas
If you’re at a loss, here is an outline you can use to help guide your filming.
Introduce yourself
Name, state, acreage, what you farm, how long you and/or your family have farmed, what cover crops you use and what season(s) do you use them, etc.
How did you get started using cover crops?
Where did you find out about them? Who told you about them? What got you interested?
How do you use cover crops?
What makes your operation unique? What other conservation practices do you use along with cover crops?
What have you tried that really works? What have you found that doesn’t work?
What is something about your farm that makes you proud?
Are you multi-generational? Did you plant a great crop?
Do you have any words of wisdom for a farmer who is just getting started with cover crops?
What is one thing you want the public to know about your farm?
