We are excited that you have chosen to learn more about one of our nation's greatest youth development programs. Over 6 million young people are already involved across the nation.
4-H is a youth development program administered by North Carolina Cooperative Extension for youth between the ages of 5 and 18. Head, Heart, Hands, and Health, are the four H's in 4-H and they are the four values members develop through fun and engaging programs.
In North Carolina, 4-H is the youth development program of North Carolina State University and North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Each county has an NC Cooperative Extension office that administers the 4-H youth development program and provides partnering support through local tax dollars. At the national level, 4-H is part of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the federal partner of the state land-grant university.
The mission of 4-H is to help youth grow and develop through learn-by-doing experiences. The mission of North Carolina Cooperative Extension is "to help create prosperity for North Carolina through programs and partnerships focused on agriculture and food, health and nutrition, and 4-H youth development".
I pledge:
My HEAD to clearer thinking,
My HEART to greater loyalty,
My HANDS to larger service,
and My HEALTH to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world.
"To Make the Best Better"
Learn by doing.
