Te-ójah Dennison-Morgan is a first year PhD student in the Applied Social Psychology program. She earned her B.S from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA in three years, and began her graduate education here at NCSU. Te-ojah is interested in studying how systemic racism, transgenerational trauma, societal stressors, and racial health inequality impact the health outcomes of Black mothers and their children, as well as the maternal health outcomes of women and children of color broadly. She hopes to develop culturally informed interventions that are implemented to increased maternal health and wellbeing.
Kyle is a first year student in the Applied Social Psychology program at North Carolina State University. His current research interests surround policing and police violence against African American community members as a public health crisis and social media as a mechanism. He currently holds a Masters degree in Experimental Psychology and has over two years of post-baccalaureate research experience for the Psychology departments at Georgia State, and Georgia Tech, including graduate research at Georgia Southern. His research contributions span areas including user experience, social marketing, criminal justice, and educational psychology. Kyle intends to pursue a research position in academia or in policy-making, leveraging his experiences and skills in understanding diverse groups of people and the systems that impact them.
Will is from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is currently a junior at NC State. He is pursuing a BA in psychology and a minor in philosophy. He has plans to attend graduate school in the hopes of obtaining a doctorate in applied social psychology, mostly focusing on sexual health and the mechanisms of heterosexual attraction. In his freetime Will likes to hike, play guitar, and spend time with his dogs.
Shweta Jakkula is a senior in the undergraduate psychology program at North Carolina State University. Her research interests include looking into perceived social support in healthcare and the impact that socioeconomic inequalities have in healthcare. Upon her graduation, Shweta will be attending the Physiology Master's program at North Carolina State University and aspires to attend medical school later.
Hanna is a second year student at NC State majoring in psychology with a minor in cognitive science. She is interested in studying the relationship between genetic and environmental factors in the development of psychological disorders, along with the altering of cognitive processes as a result of adverse experiences. She is set to graduate from NC State in December of 2026, and pursue her PhD in Clinical Psychology.
Rowland (he/they) matriculated from a directorship of digital and social media strategies at a boutique international investment bank, Victory Partners, LLC, toward a non-degree seeking (NDS) academic background in psychology during 2022. They did this in the pursuit of a more fulfilling career that directly serves individuals and communities alike. In preparation for becoming a licensed clinical social worker, Rowland’s research interests currently concern emotional contagions within families living with neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD, Autism), the determinants of effective treatment coverage for depressive conditions, the social determinants of health for depressive conditions, and the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to academia, Rowland spends their time volunteering at Oak City Cares, LLC serving our unhoused neighbors, playing guitar and golf, and practicing mindfulness and martial arts. Rowland is from Richmond, VA and currently resides in Cary, NC. Over the summer of 2025, they will be getting their first opportunity to work in the field as a case manager with Resources for Human Development.
Madeleine Wyatt is ia psychology major with a concentration in general psychology. She is currently a junior at North Carolina State University, and she aspires to graduate from NC State in May of 2026 to pursue her masters in either Clinical Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy. This research aligns with her goals to focus on children and how to assist them to have a successful future individually and/or with their families. A fun fact about Maddie is that she is a classically trained singer and has competed across the southeast for seven years!
