a resource repository to capture the wealth of wisdom, experience, and activism beyond what is privileged in academic publications
"You should listen to this podcast!!"
We've either said it or been on the receiving end of this statement.
Where do the recommendations end up after we listen to 10 minutes? What about the book recommendations that classmates drop in the chat during class? After class you realize you didn't catch the title or the author and now it's lost. The stakes seem even higher when the content of these recommendations are focused on justice.
Maybe you are like me and you often add, "I heard in a podcast...." and then go on to share a story or idea but don't have the name to give credit...
This site is an interactive and engaging resource repository of podcasts, books, social media posts, youtube videos, documentaries, etc. that speak to social justice beyond the journals.
This idea is in response to critiques of the academy for being theory and publication driven in the dynamic and multifaceted nature of social justice. Leaders, activists, and abolitionists have been at the work of liberation far before and far beyond the careful crafting of manuscripts. When we are led only by those whose thoughts have been privileged in publications we are ignoring the creative catalysts that have paved and are paving the way for justice. My hope is that this resource repository will bring in a plethora of voices and avenues for engaging in the learning of justice work.
Hopefully you will find this site easy to navigate and utilize in many different ways.
First, you'll find the Resource Repository page with two links: 1. to the raw list of resource submissions and 2. a form to submit a resource. This is a collective list of sources that add to the knowledge that informs justice work. No source is too small or too large to be featured in the repository.
Second, you'll see resource highlights that are specific to a time, place, or event.
Third, you'll find templates for creating your own resource repository that fits your needs outside the bounds of this site.
