Core, Personal, and Professional Values

My core personal values that I hold closely are family, independence, adaptability, joy, and growth. These values are important to me as through these values is how I intend to live my life. I consider my professional values to be the same as my values as they relate to my professional career. My family is very important to me and they are my number one motivator, when my academics start to get tough I think of my family back home and how supportive they are of me which gives me the motivation to strive to be better. I also feel as though I am very independent which comes from my times in Boy Scouts where you must become self-reliant as there are not many adults who will hold your hand along the way. Adaptability is another one of my strong suits as I have always been very quick to adapt to different situations or problems that arise. Joy is one of the more important values, as without it, I honestly am not sure how I would get through life, I always try to keep a smile on my face or to help cheer someone up. Lastly, growth, as I mentioned in my mission statement, I aspire to continue to grow through life and take every situation as a lesson, whether a good or bad one, it happened for a reason and I must learn and grow from it.
