Working with technology can provide extremely beneficial learning opportunities. However, technology is not without its glitches. We’ve compiled a list of frequent problems for which we can recommend potential solutions. For example, your classroom data are stored in a secure Cloud file, but there can sometimes be connection issues. These issues are often seen when students try to log in. Here are some solutions to known potential problems.

If a student can’t log in, check the spelling/capitalization of the student’s name and try again.
If you log in and get a message about the Cloud, try two more times to sign in. If you are still having problems, shut down the app and log back in.
If Leo gets stuck “loading,” wait at least 60 seconds before performing a hard shut down of the CyberPad app (see General Troubleshooting below).
Sometimes students get frustrated using the Virtual Lab. Here are the solutions to common problems.
If students cannot see all their tools within the virtual lab, they should close the agenda.
If students are struggling to draw the wires in the Virtual Lab:
Remind them to draw wires from one dot to the next closest dot
Wires cannot curve or run diagonally
Light bulbs and batteries can be turned to change their orientation. However, if they are outside the dots of the lab as a result of being turned, they will no longer turn. If this happens, delete the object and put another one in a place on the screen where there is room to reconfigure it.
Students must tap on/select the object they want in the drawing space, and then they must tap the area where they want to place the object. In other words, this is not a drag and drop.
To change the location of an object, they should select it and then drag and drop.
To change the spatial orientation of an object, students should select the object and then click on the arrows in a circle.
To delete an object, students should select the object and then they should click on the “x.”
If an answer box is stuck on the screen, click the blue “Done” button above the keyboard. If the keyboard is not visible, click in the answer box again. Then the Done button will reappear.
If students cannot hear Leo talking, make sure the volume is turned up on the iPad or computer. Make sure students are clicking the button to activate his talking.
If students are struggling with the scroll bar, sometimes tapping the orange bar and then holding it while dragging their fingers makes it easier.
If student work is not being saved, make sure students are always clicking the Done or Finished buttons. (This saves work.)
If students don’t see the checkmark after completing an investigation, they should go back through each tab to make sure they answered all the questions. Sometimes they will need to scroll down within the CyberPad window to see certain items. At certain times, if they still aren’t getting a checkmark on a completed section but have completed all the material, it may be a cloud-related issue that they can ignore. Once CyberPad has an opportunity to sync it should be resolved.
