I am Hans Peter Schmitz, the Bob and Carol Mattocks Distinguished Professor in Nonprofit Leadership in the Department of Public Administration at the School of Public and International Affairs, North Carolina State University.
My research focuses on (international) nonprofits, philanthropy, and global civil society. I am interested in the future relevance of international NGOs (INGOs) and in what ways high-net-worth philanthropy shapes global activism. The research is designed to have practical implications for governance, accountability, and effectiveness of INGOs and philanthropic institutions.
Through my scholarship, I contribute to both academic and practical knowledge relevant to stakeholders of the nonprofit sector.
