FACES is a family advocacy and empowerment training designed for Black caregivers (biological, relative, or adoptive) of Black children between the ages of 3 and 18 years with an autism diagnosis.
Participating in FACES means you will:
complete all required forms
attend five in-person training sessions at a location close to you
We have groups in the following areas:
Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Charlotte, North Carolina
Clinton/Sampson County, North Carolina
Fayetteville, North Carolina
Washington, DC
Baltimore, Maryland
All locations offer the same program. There are no residency requirements; you only need to have transportation to the meeting location.
Yes! We want to learn from your experiences. We will ask all caregivers who participate in FACES to complete brief surveys and interviews.Â
All the information you share about you and your family will remain anonymous. We will not share the information of caregivers who participated in FACES.
In addition to building your empowerment and advocacy skills, we will connect you to local resources and other Black families walking the same journey.
To get involved in FACES, please send an email to Jennifer Macko, the FACES Lab Coordinator, at jsmacko@ncsu.edu .
