I received my Ph.D. in industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology from Virginia Tech in 2002, my M.S. in I-O psychology from Virginia Tech in 1995, and my B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1992. I joined the I-O psychology faculty at North Carolina State University in 2002. Prior to coming to NCSU, I was a research scientist and consultant at the leadership development consultancy of Kaplan DeVries Inc. and a research associate at the Center for Creative Leadership. I continue to serve as an adjunct consultant and researcher at both those organizations.
My consulting practice focuses on developing tools for measuring leadership performance, working with individual managers to improve their effectiveness, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. I live with my family in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I have been known to indulge in science fiction/fantasy films, computer games, and hard rock music.
