At Beginning Teacher Institute, we know the value of learning from other educators. Our mission is to provide new teachers with inspiring, informative, and practical professional development to help sustain them in the profession. In is in this spirite, we welcome applications for our 2019 institute. The deadline for submitting proposals is Monday, April 15.

Preference will be given to presentations based on:

• Practicality and Actionability -We want our participants walk away with something they can use in the classroom.
• Activity - We prefer presentations in which our participants engage in more than just direct instruction.
• Classroom Experience - We welcome presenters from various fields within education but prefer for each presentation to have at least one co-presenter who is a classroom teacher.
• Balance - We strive to create balance by offering presentations in each of the following strands:
  • Fostering a positive classroom climate
  • Creating classrooms that support students with a variety of learning needs
  • Implementing technology
  • Assessing student learning
  • Planning for instruction
  • Creating equitable classrooms and schools
