NC State: DAO STUDENTPROJECT
The project aims to design, develop, and deploy an open source Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) to serve as a governance and collaboration platform for the NC State blockchain club. The DAO will empower club members to participate in decision-making, manage resources transparently, and coordinate initiatives collectively through blockchain technology.
A DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, is a community-owned entity that operates without centralized leadership, using blockchain technology. DAOs enable people to come together for a common purpose and collectively make decisions about the organization's functioning.Â
How it work:
Smart Contracts: DAOs operate through smart contracts, which are code stored on a blockchain that automatically executes when predefined conditions are met. These smart contracts define the rules of the DAO and automate its functions.
Governance Tokens: Membership and voting in DAOs are typically based on the possession of native tokens. These tokens grant holders voting rights and influence over the organization's operations. The weight of each vote is usually proportional to the number of tokens held.
Proposals and Voting: Members can propose ideas or changes to the DAO, which are then put to a vote. If a proposal receives enough support, as defined by the DAO's rules, it is automatically approved and implemented through smart contracts.
