I am a neurobiologist who seeks to understand the role of sensory stimuli in the neural basis of behavioral diversity. My research combines gene editing, quantitative behavior assays, and advanced imaging techniques to analyze the function and sensory recognition of cell types across species. As an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Christa Baker's lab at North Carolina State University, I am investigating the neural control of acoustic duetting in the fruit fly species Drosophila virilis. During my PhD with Dr. Timothy Erickson, who has since moved from East Carolina University to the University of New Brunswick, I studied the role of the lateral line in early larval zebrafish behaviors.
