4-H Embryology

WELCOME TO 4-H EMBRYOLOGY

4-H Embryology is a school enrichment project offered by NC Cooperative Extension and 4-H in Bladen County to help 2nd grade students learn about the life cycle of animals.  This website will be your learning guide throughout the project. Additionally, you may have already received a packet of activity sheets that accompanies this website. Check the website often as we add information for the coming weeks of this hands-on science project.

Information on this first page will help you and your class get started with 4-H Embryology.

What is 4-H?

4-H is the leading youth development organization serving youth ages 5 to 18. 4-H has been around for more than 100 years. To the right you will see an image of the 4-H Pledge. Based on the words in the 4-H Pledge, can you guess what 4-H stands for?

Week 1 - Embryology

It is time to set up our incubators and set our eggs! Click the image to visit the WEEK 1 page for videos and activities!

Our Chicks are growing and developing.  Check out week 2 of our Embryology Eggs by clicking on the image or on the words above.

This week you will be learning about setting up your class brooder box and about a special feature on a chicken called a comb.

Don't forget to continually update your chick calendar journal with what is happening inside the egg.

This is an exciting week in your classroom! You will get to observe your baby chicks as they hatch out from their eggs. They have a sharp part of their beak called an egg tooth that helps them escape the egg.

Wonder what day your eggs will peep?!?
