Pollinator Gardens at NCSSM

Pollinator gardens are designed with a diverse array of flowering plants that bloom at different times throughout the growing season.

The pollinator gardens at both NCSSM campuses feature native plants to support native pollinators and to promote ecological sustainability. 

The primary purpose of pollinator gardens is to support pollinator species by providing essential habitat. Pollinators, such as butterflies and wasps,  obtain nectar and pollen from flowers. Immature pollinators, such as Monarch caterpillars, feed on leaves of specific plants. The garden is also provides important shelter for nesting and overwintering insects, birds, and other small animals.
