For most families, they are able to accept the invite link sent to their NCSSM family account and log into Orah with no problem. For a select few, there run into some technical issues that we have to sort out but then they are good to go! The most common issue we run into is families getting an Error 403 screen that says they are not an authorized user when they first try to use the Orah app. Here is how we've been able to resolve that issue when it comes up:
On your mobile browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.), sign out of your personal Google account.
You should then sign into your NCSSM Google account on said browser.
Delete and reinstall the Orah app.
When you open the newly reinstalled Orah, it should log you in just fine and no more error 403 messages!
The other solution we recommend is accepting the initial email invite link on a computer instead of a smartphone and going to app.orah.com to log in. You can manage all of the pass requests features that we need families to do via app.orah.com.
When your student is leaving campus overnight, missing curfew, and/or traveling more than 30 miles away from campus, they will request the appropriate pass on Orah: Overnight, Missing Curfew, or Travel 30+ Miles.
When they request the pass, you will receive an email with a link to view their pass request:
When you view the pass request, you will have the option to endorse or to decline that pass:
You can also log into the Orah for Families app on your phone and view their pass requests there. To review your student's pass request on the browser version of Orah, log in at app.orah.com go to the Pending My Endorsement page.
This page will display a list of pass requests pending your endorsement. Select the request to view the pass details.
Once reviewed, choose to either confirm or decline the pass. You can also add in a message which will be seen by all parties in the pass process. We will see if you have given your permission and we won't approve any passes for overnight travel, missing curfew, or traveling more than 30 miles away from campus without parental permission/endorsement. If anything comes up and you are unable to review the pass request via Orah, call the on-duty CC or main campus office and we can update that pass request after talking to you about it.
The final approval of the pass comes from the duty staff. We'll activate the pass when your student and whomever is picking them up comes to sign them out.
We will not call you to confirm the pass request details. We will rely on you endoring or declining the pass via app.orah.com or your Orah family app. Be sure that only you have access to your NCSSM email and Orah account. We understand that some families allow their students to log into their NCSSM accounts to help manage and navigate all of those communications, but we are really relying on only families being able to endorse their students' pass requests in Orah. We don't want students logging in as their family and endorsing passes themselves.
