Sponsors are responsible for reviewing the student proposal for safety, space, budget, and feasibility, and approving it prior to submission.
The spirit of the Bowman-Brockman program is that the projects are student-initiated and student-run; the sponsor is NOT responsible for moving the project forward in the absense of student initiative.
Sponsors should provide students with guidance and serve as the liaison between the students and the Dean of Science or the Purchasing Manager for all submissions, purchase requests and revisions. See this document to understand the roles of everyone involved.
Sponsors should coordinate student use of space and equipment with the Department or Discipline. Classes always take priority for space use.
Sponsors must approve orders needed by students for their projects. Please work with the Purchasing Manager to place and receive orders . All items will be shipped to the sponsor. Additionally, sponsors must indicate their campus (Morganton or Durham) for shipping purposes and keep track of packing lists.
