I (Eric) have always liked using this Chrome Extension for students who need to get resources for research projects and other curriculum-related needs. When a student-requested site (that happens to be blocked) could be considered a little "questionable" due to the extra content on the page, I have turned to this tool. Many times, I have taken the site link that students have shared with me, turned it printer friendly, and deleted out the unnecessary content. I then share the PDF version of the file with the student(s) via email. It's so easy and convenient to do!
You have two options to download the Print Friendly & PDF Chrome Extension:
You may go to https://www.printfriendly.com/ OR
Go to the Chrome Web Store and download the extension to your Google Chrome account. Click HERE to do so!
Find a website you would like to use for your class. It can be anything that ties into your subject area, relates to your current instructional unit, etc.
Use your Print Friendly & PDF extension to get the printer friendly version.
1.) When the printer friendly version opens in a new window, take a screenshot* of it.
2.) Cut out the unnecessary material (such as ads, unnecessary links, images, etc.).
3.) Take another screenshot of the new version after you have "trimmed it up."
4.) Create a PDF file of the new printer friendly version and save it to your Google Drive.
Upload both screenshots you have taken to the file upload question in the Google Form below.
Get the shareable link to the PDF file. Paste that shareable link to the shareable link question in the Google Form below.
