In this video, you are going to learn about:
Pinning tabs
Grouping tabs
Virtual desks
Re-opening a tab
Auto-loading tabs
Organizing bookmarks (bonus)
Pinning a tab
Let's start by pinning the tabs that you use most frequently. This might be Google Drive, Gmail, Google Classroom, etc.
Pin TWO tabs that you use all of the time.
Take a screenshot to upload to the Google Form provided below.
Tab group
Grouping tabs would be extremely helpful when working on multiple projects. For example, when I create a badge, I have all of these tabs open (Google Sites, Forms, Sheets, Slides). Having these grouped together will allow you to close the group without having to close the tabs.
Create a GROUP of tabs.
Take a screenshot to upload to the Google Form provided below.
Creating a VIRTUAL DESK can only be done on a Chromebook. Watch the video to learn more!
Reopening a tab
If you ever accidentally close a tab and need it back..... Ctrl + Shift + T (on a MacBook, Command + Shift + T) will reopen the tab.
Automatically SAVE and RE-OPEN your tabs
Click on the snowman (three dots in top right), go to Settings, search for ON START UP. You will have three options to choose from:
Open the new tab page
Continue where you left off
Open a specific page or set of pages
Bonus....watch THIS video to learn how to organize your bookmarks.
You have TWO tasks to complete for this badge. You will need to pin a tab and create a tab group. Take a screenshot of your screen after the tasks and upload it to the Google Form provided below.
*Instructions for taking screenshots on a Chromebook:
Full screen screenshot: Ctrl+windows shift button (looks like a rectangle with two lines next to it; above the 6 key).
Partial screenshot: Ctrl+Shift+windows shift button (looks like a rectangle with two lines next to it; above the 6 key). Click and drag around the area you'd like to grab.
Screenshots will be sent to your Downloads file (small blue circular icon with a file folder inside found in the apps menu -- click the small circle icon in far bottom left corner of Chromebook screen to find the Downloads file).
