The Google Workspace area is useful when you are working on a project. For me, it's Shield OnDemand (see image to the right).
I have several documents that I jump back and forth from when working. The idea around the Workspace is to give you an organized "workspace" where you can access the tools needed for the project quickly.
I do not have to go search for all of the documents that I would need for this project. They are now easily accessible through the Workspace folder under the PRIORITY tab in Google Drive.
I realize that this could be compared to a Google Drive folder, however, sometimes we house our files in different folders and sometimes forget where we've put them.
This workspace does NOT move anything from their original locations. It is basically a different format for viewing the files.
Go to your Google Drive and click on PRIORITY on your left.
You will see an area under your recent activities called WORKSPACES.
Click CREATE.
You will be asked to name your new WORKSPACE.
Once you have named it, click CREATE and you are ready to start building your workspace with the files that you need to complete your project.
You have three options available when clicking on the "snowman" or three dots. You can Rename, Hide, or Remove the workspace that you created.
Unfortunately, Google does not allow you to add someone to this workspace. I have already made that suggestion.
For the task for this badge, CREATE a new WORKSPACE which will house some files that you need in order to work on a project.
Name the Workspace
Add a few files
Screenshot* the workspace that you create and include it on the Google Form provided below.
Using the Google Form provided below, submit the screenshot of your "new" Workspace. Please tell us how this could be useful to you in the future.
*Instructions for taking screenshots on a Chromebook:
Full screen screenshot: Ctrl+windows shift button (looks like a rectangle with two lines next to it; above the 6 key).
Partial screenshot: Ctrl+Shift+windows shift button (looks like a rectangle with two lines next to it; above the 6 key). Click and drag around the area you'd like to grab.
Screenshots will be sent to your Downloads file (small blue circular icon with a file folder inside found in the apps menu -- click the small circle icon in far bottom left corner of Chromebook screen to find the Downloads file).
