Citation Tools

Citing sources can be one of the most confusing things for students to understand during the writing process. Besides Google Docs and its citation tool, there are plenty of other options out there a writer can use. Keep reading below to learn about a few more: Bibcitation and Citation Generator.

The Tasks

Choose ONE citation tool with which to become familiarized from the options below!

BIBCITATION
1. Go to bibcitation.com.
  - Please note that there is a dropdown menu in the upper middle section of the website. From there, choose the style of citation you would like to use.
2. Click the link here to Richard Byrne's Free Technology for Teachers blog that highlights Bibcitation's features.
  - Byrne introduce's Bibcitation's new Chrome Extension. Click here to go to the Chrome Web Store to get it!
3. Choose a way to use Bibcitation: via the website or through the Chrome Extension.
4. Use Bibcitation in class with your students.
  - Post the assignment on Google Classroom. Have students submit their work.
  - Screenshot* your assignment post from Google Classroom and upload the image file to the upload file field in the Google Form below.
  - Choose a good student example, make a copy of the student artifact (we do not need to see student names), and share the view only link in the shareable link field in the Google Form below.

CLASSTOOLS.NET'S CITATION GENERATOR
1. Go to classtools.net/citation-generator/. The site does not require you to sign in.
2. Watch the tutorial video located on this page over the citation tool.

3. Choose a way to use ClassTools.net's Citation Generator with an assignment for your class.
4. Use the tool in class with your students.
  - Post the assignment on Google Classroom. Have students submit their work.
