IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
School Based Physical Therapy Services do not replace community-based services.
It is a parent/guardian's responsibility to maintain a student's personal mobility equipment in proper working order. We will assist as much as possible to expedite repairs and regularly monitor equipment specific to the school setting only.

SBPT Direct Services:
the student requires specially designed instruction (SDI) related to motor development and/or generalization of gross motor skills in order to access their education
student specific IEP goals and a plan of care are in place
SBPT Supplemental/Support Services:
monitor gross motor status/development
monitor and assist with equipment management
staff support/consultation and related training
problem solving
transportation safety needs
School Based Physical Therapy (SBPT) is a RELATED service provided based on a student's identified need, according to Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEIA 2004) https://www.congress.gov/bill/108th-congress/house-bill/1350
Services must be related to an educational need
Therapist is part of the IEP/504 team
There is a documented need that the student requires the service to:
meet specific IEP goals and/or
access and participate in the educational environment

SBPT works closely with the NCPS Transportation Department to meet the individual needs of our students who require specialized transportation services
For Students in Wheelchairs:
Please familiarize yourself with these criteria so that we can ensure safe transport of our wheelchair students at all times
If these criteria are not met or NCPS staff cannot ensure the safe transport of these students, parents/guardians will be contacted by the school administration and asked to provide transportation until the necessary repairs are made.
