The Saxe Library Media site has great recommendations at each grade level! Click on "What to Read Next" on the library website (also linked here and on the homepage and via the image to the left) Note: Kids may need to be logged into their NCPS accounts to access some resources.
Each year, award winners are announced at each level. Perhaps you'd like to try a Newbery Award nominee or a Newbery winner? These are national awards. Click the image to take a look at the winners or click here to learn more about the awards! The Connecticut Nutmeg awards are also popular choices each year! Perhaps try a past winner (2026) or a future nominee (2027). Click here to access the Nutmeg winners and nominees!

Reading is often social! We love to get recommendations from friends, family, and teachers! Perhaps there's a book from a curriculum list that you wanted to read but didn't have time, or maybe a friend tells you about their favorite book that you can grab and read. We're never too old to read aloud with family! Or, maybe an audio book to/from events while in the car, reading together in a small book club, or partnering with an adult or friend will do the trick to talk about characters, themes and connections. Enjoy a book with others!
