Engineer It 6

Welcome to Engineer It 6: Design and Modeling! 

Engineer It 6: Design and Modeling meets in Room 227 (the Innovation Lab!) periods 1, 2, 5, and 7.  

We will be using the curriculum for Design and Modeling from Project Lead the Way. You can learn more about PLTW here. https://www.pltw.org/our-programs/pltw-gateway 

Design & Modeling focuses on the design process. We will learn how to do different kinds of design sketching, including using the 3D modeling software, Tinkercad. We will also learn about the principles of universal design by designing for people with disabilities. Students will have the opportunity to create several take-home innovations, including 3D printed models. 

Grading is important. All of your assignments contribute to your grade. But more important than grades, are these things: 

• LEARNING how to think like engineers.

• GROWING as students. 

• PRACTICING skills that we will use beyond this class.

• BEING CURIOUS and asking questions.

• Collaborating and working as a TEAM. 

• Being CREATIVE and engaging in the DESIGN PROCESS.

• Thinking outside the box, troubleshooting, and PROBLEM-SOLVING.

If you are actively engaged, turning in your work, asking questions, and revising any assignments that need it, your grade will be great!
