Alder Creek Middle School

About Me:

This is my sixth year teaching at Alder Creek and my 20th year of teaching in all. I teach Beginning ELD, co-teach English Language Arts for 7/8th grades Immersion, co-teach 6th grade social Studies, and co-teach Literature Workshop for 6th-8th grade Immersion students. In the past, I have taught Language Arts, Spanish, and Creative Writing.

I was born in Portland, OR and raised in Hillsboro where I attended Glencoe High School. In high school, I was involved in leadership, volleyball, dance, and drama.

I attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA where I studied English and participated in the Latin American Study Tour and Semester at Sea.

For graduate school, I attended Portland State University and earned a Master's of Education. Most recently, I earned a certificate of teaching to English Speakers of Other Languages.

I love to travel and have lived abroad in Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic where I studied Spanish and taught English. I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors: skiing, hiking, running, and biking. I am bilingual and love to immerse myself in Latin culture.

I also am passionate about Unified Sports. I coach Unified Soccer and Basketball at ACMS where students with and without intellectual disabilities come together to play and develop teamwork in an inclusive environment.
