FAQ:
What is the purpose of band camp?
Band camp provides an opportunity to build community within the band program even before the school year begins! Incoming freshmen get the chance to meet and connect with upperclassmen, while also gaining a sense of what it means to be part of the Clackamas High School band. Band camp also helps us prepare for the immediate start of the football season—our first game is on Friday, September 5th, which is the first Friday of school. Since we don’t have much prep time, it’s essential that all students attend.
What do I need to bring to band camp?
You’ll only need four things for band camp: your instrument, water, a pencil, and lunch.
Lunch will be provided only on the last day (Thursday).
You don’t need to bring music—it will be provided on the first day of band camp.
If you need to borrow an instrument from the school, please let Mr. Ross know as soon as possible!
How can I best be prepared for Band Camp?
The best (and easiest) way to be prepared for band camp is to keep practicing over the summer.
You—or your parent—should have received a Google Drive link containing all of the pep band music. You can view this on your Chromebook or a home computer.
If it hasn’t been shared with you, please let Mr. Ross know as soon as possible!
Feel free to practice those charts to be extra prepared for camp.
Other ways to stay sharp include: Taking private lessons (see the "Important Resources" tab for a list of local teachers) or attending a summer band camp (also listed under "Important Resources")
