Important Reminder
If you are using or adding images to your website, please be sure that you have the usage rights and permission to do so. Here are some resources that you can use to help find reusable images:
Searching for copyright friendly images with Google Image Search as well as other resources and new alt text feature in the New Google Sites
Copyright friendly resources for images
Make your site accessible: New Alt-Text Feature & your YouTube videos have closed captioning enabled
When you create a site, follow the tips below to make sure it's readable by everyone, including people with disabilities.
Use alternate text (alt text) for images, drawings, and other graphics so that everyone can understand your site. Without alt text, screen reader users just hear "image." Some images automatically include alt text, so it's a good idea to check that the alt text is what you want.
There are two adjacent videos to help you with adding alternate text.
The first is a broader overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act (what it is, why it impacts you as an educator and how to add alternate text to your Google Site).
The second is an short update on a new (December 2017) feature Google Sites has added to help you with using Alternate text, with certain images.
