The infographic
Visual analysis has become a standard part of our world. Graphic design used to be the exclusive domain of professionals with complex software and specialized knowledge, but the bar has been drastically lowered in the last few years with the introduction of numerous digital tools (here's a list) that do a lot of the work for you. For this assignment, students used one of these tools to create an infographic explaining a piece of late medieval Italian art (chosen by the student). Infographics included the piece of art being analyzed, and then explained what the viewer is seeing when s/he looks at this piece of art—or maybe a better way of phrasing it would be: what the artist and patron expected a viewer of their own time to see and understand when s/he looked at this piece of art.
