Hello and welcome to Howard Track and Field's Team page.
HWTF Team Rules
I’m Coach Hicks and I would like to share with you our Track and Field team expectations.
Athletes must earn a 70% or higher in all of their classes to maintain eligibility. Grades will be checked throughout the season.
Athletes must be dressed and ready for practice by 3:10.
Co-op students must arrive for practice before 3:30.
Athletes must keep their missed practices under 7 for the season. If an athlete has to miss practice for doctor’s appointments, funerals, or the like, a parent may text Coach Hicks at 302-256-2051.
Athletes must complete the attendance link before the missed practice. Not completing the link is considered a “no call, no show” and will be considered two absences.
Injured athletes still report to practice unless the trainer has sent them to PT. Being “sore” is not an excuse to miss practice.
Athletes must avoid being suspended from school during the season. Suspensions will result in removal from the team.
Outside of practice and meets, athletes should hold themselves accountable and in high standard as a representative of the team. This includes proper conduct in school and online.
Athletes should not post anything on social media that reflects poorly on themselves, teammates, or the program. Screenshots or reports of inappropriate content will be taken seriously.
Team captains are expected to lead by example in attendance, conduct, communication, and effort.
Athletes must avoid foul language and horseplay.
Athletes must wear proper shoes to practice and track meets.
Athletes must participate in their assigned events.
If conflicts happen, Coach Hicks can request a mandatory mediation. Failure to comply can result in removal from the team.
Each athlete must complete the parent contact link before participating in a track meet.
This form must be signed and returned before the 3rd week of practice for any season.
